The insights are made available to all Search Console users and can be found on the top of Google’s Search Console Overview page.

You can also search a specific query in Google and at the top of the SERP there will be a result titled “Search performance for this query” that serves as an entry point into Search Console Insights. Google recommends that you associate and link your website’s Google Search Console Property with its Google Analytics property to get the best insights regarding your content.

The data found in Search Console Insights will help users answer questions like:

  • What pieces of content are trending? Which are the best performing?
  • How are people discovering your content?
  • What are people searching for on Google prior to visiting your content?
  • What articles may be referring people to your website’s content?


For those who do not use Google Analytics, rest assured there is still a way to access the data that Search Console Insights provide, though the insights and experience are much better when the two services are paired together.

Google has been testing Search Console Insights for about a year, first launching a closed beta in August of 2020 and while it may still be in the beta stages the data and information it provides are still precious.

There’s an old saying in the industry, “We can’t improve what we don’t measure” and Google must have had it on its minds when creating Search Console Insights to add to its services. The saying essentially means that if you don’t have the necessary data and analytics to track something then there is no way to reliably get better at it. Without there’s no way to see if your content is successfully achieving the desired effect.
